HORACIO LOPEZ

Drums, Percusion and singing

Born in Buenos Aires. In 1962 he starts with his musical stufies (Drums, Percusion and harmony)

He starts his professional career in 1973 as part of Pablo Ziegler' Trio (former pianist for Piazzola) playing classic music in a jazzy way (Chopin, Debussy, etc. ). He is part of Santiago Giaccobe's quartet and also playing as a sessionist in several recordings. During 1976-77 he is a free-lance musician in Aruba's Sheraton Hotel. In the United States he is part of Jon Lucien's group (afro-jazz singenr) together with Wagner Tiso (piano) Milton Nascimento's arranger and Steve Thorton Miles Davis's percusionist, making a large tour that would finish in Carnegie Hall, Nueva York. He plays in Jam Sessions with Herbie Hancock, Egberto Gismonti, Airto Moreira, Flora Purim and others. He comes back to Buenos Aires to record Juan Carlos Cirigliano's “Música de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires”. In 1980 he plays in the group “Candonga” (Candombe-Milonga) with Rubén Rada, Adalberto Cevasco, Juan Barrueco and Bernardo Baraj. In 1982 he participates of “Cuarteto de Dino Saluzzi” with Quique Sinesi (guitar) and Matías González (bass) and they play in jazz festivals in Berlín, Zurich, Koln, Hamburgo, Basilea, Leipzig, etc. In 1983 they perform with italian trompetist Enrico Rava in Buenos Aires. With Sinesi and González they create “Alfombra Mágica” in 1984. He is part of the group “La Sonora del Plata”, Litto Nebbia's quartet, with who he travels to México performing in Sala Ollín Yolitzli, and again, with Pablo Ziegler's “Cuarteto para el Nuevo Tango” with who he makes several tours to USA and South America (Santa Fé Chamber Music Festival, Río de Janeiro, Brasilia, La Paz, etc.).

He also is a notorius teacher, creating in 1985 the G.E.O Popular Music School, in 1991 the percusion school“La Clave” and in 1992 he realesea his ”Corporal Rythmic Disociation Method", giving a large number od teaching clinics.

He makes some workshops in Copenhague where he performs wth danish trombonist Erling Kroner.
